Accelerating the decarbonization of transport and logistics

Heading towards a carbon-free transport and logistics industry, CMA CGM is deploying significant human, financial, and operational resources to achieve Net Zero Carbon by 2050 across all its activities.

The CMA CGM Group's decarbonization strategy is based on two main pillars:

  • Reduce energy consumption through operational excellence and optimization of asset design and performance.
  • Increase the share of low-carbon energies in the energy mix, both by acquiring adapted assets and developing sustainable production channels

For its maritime transport activities, CMA CGM is committed to reaching intermediate milestones in reducing its greenhouse gas emissions: -30% by 2030 and -80% by 2040 (compared to 2008).

Protecting biodiversity

Operating across all oceans and continents, the CMA CGM Group has long been committed to preserving biodiversity, limiting the impact of its activities, contributing to the protection of fragile ecosystems (corals, mangroves, posidonia, forests) and endangered species (cetaceans, turtles, birds), and actively supporting research and innovation (Fondation de la Mer, Ifremer, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute).

CMA CGM has once again been certified Green Marine Europe in October 2024. This environmental certification for the European maritime industry is a voluntary initiative. La Méridionale has also received the label.
