Air freight

Launched in March 2021, CMA CGM AIR CARGO is the Group’s dedicated air freight division, providing strengthened logistics offering to meet the growing demand for comprehensive, rapid, and agile solutions.
A major turning point in the development of its logistics offer
Specialized in air freight, CMA CGM AIR CARGO is a major strategic asset providing global coverage adapted to the most demanding supply chain management requirements.
“To meet our customers' growing demand for agile logistics solutions, we launched CMA CGM AIR CARGO in 2021. This division began with four Airbus A330-200F aircraft and is now expanding its fleet with Boeing 777F and soon Airbus A350F aircraft, aiming to offer comprehensive global coverage. This marks a major turning point in the development of our logistics offer.”
Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and CEO of the CMA CGM Group
A complementary offering to our maritime and logistics services
Since March 2021, the CMA CGM Group has created a new division dedicated to air freight: CMA CGM AIR CARGO, to complement its maritime and logistics services. The division currently operates a modern and efficient fleet:
- 1 Airbus A330-200F with a capacity of 60 tons
- 4 Boeing 777F aircraft by the end of 2025, each with a capacity of 102 tons
The Group continues its development with an order for 8 Airbus A350F aircraft, becoming the launch customer for this new model. With a payload capacity exceeding 100 tons and a range of approximately 9,000 kilometers, the A350F will enable CMA CGM AIR CARGO to strengthen its long-haul offering, better meeting the needs of its customers and their markets.
With its state-of-the-art technologies, particularly optimized fuel consumption, the A350F will, upon delivery, offer the best environmental performances in the airfreight sector both in terms of noise and CO2 emissions.
A French freight airline
Since 2022, CMA CGM AIR CARGO has been a French freight airline, certified by the French Civil Aviation Authority (DGAC), with a hub based at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. Today, over 200 employees, including approximately 120 pilots, are part of the division.
Strategic Development in the United States with Atlas Air
As part of its international expansion, the CMA CGM Group has established an air freight hub in Chicago. This hub currently hosts two Boeing 777F aircraft operated by Atlas Air under the CMA CGM AIR CARGO brand, with three additional aircraft to be added soon. This strategic partnership strengthens the Group's presence on transpacific routes and supports the development of its cargo activities in the American market.
Accelerated Growth with Air Belgium
In May 2025, CMA CGM AIR CARGO has finalized the acquisition of Air Belgium's cargo operations. This strategic move enhances the company's fleet and operational capabilities, offering tailored solutions to its clients. Air Belgium currently operates two Boeing 747-8F aircraft, each with a payload capacity of 134 tons.
With strategic hubs in France, the United States, and Belgium, CMA CGM AIR CARGO stands as a cornerstone of the Group's multimodal offering, delivering agile, integrated, and customized transport solutions right up to the last mile.
