To go even further, and in support of local sporting events, CMA CGM is also a partner of several emblematic races in Marseille, an opportunity to mobilize and federate the Group's staff members by offering them the chance to join a CMA CGM Team and take part in one of the region's flagship races:

Legendary Marseille Races

  • Monte Cristo Challenge: the leading European open water swim race. This legendary race is held every year in Marseille with a 5 km swim from the Château d’If to the Prado beach in Marseille.
  • Marseille-Cassis run: The Marseille-Cassis is a landmark race in the Provence region which attracts more than 20,000 competitors from all over the world every year who run across the Parc national des Calanques, climbing the Gineste pass.
  • La Marseillaise des Femmes: an all-female run in Marseille which is well-known throughout the Provence Region. This race, which was launched in 2019, is above all an important event  bringing together women from all over the Region. It is also seen as a symbol for women’s rights.

They create an opportunity to mobilize and unite the Group’s employees offering them the possibility to be part of the CMA CGM Team and to compete in the Region’s flagship races.

And several sports players and events:

Juris' Cup

Juris' Cup

CMA CGM is an official partner of the Juris’ Cup, Europe’s largest corporate regatta.

This event involves more than 2,000 participants every year and approximately 130 racing yachts.

For over 10 years, the Group has presented a team in this race which takes place in the bay of Marseille.

Vendée Globe

Vendée Globe

CMA CGM is proud to have supported the Boris Herrmann-led Team Malizia and its sailing boat SeaExplorer in the 2020 Vendée Globe race.

This legendary solo, non-stop, round-the-world race is an outstanding sporting challenge. Pushing himself to his limits, Boris Herrmann demonstrated great fighting spirit, agility and solidarity by providing help to his competitors. These values, which are shared by the CMA CGM Group and its employees, lie at the heart of our support towards Boris.

Beyond the sporting challenge, this event symbolically represented the race to prevent climate change and protect the oceans, as highlighted on the yacht’s sails: “A race we must win, Climate action now”. Committed to promoting marine science, Boris Hermann’s boat was self-sufficient in energy and equipped with an automated lab measuring oceanographic data, such as water temperature, salinity, pH and CO2. This lab enabled automatic readings from water samples in areas of the oceans otherwise difficult to reach.

This partnership, built around a common environmental ambition, dovetails with the efforts of the CMA CGM Group, which has always considered its business performance as instrinsically linked to its environmental performance.

Transat Jacques Vabre

Transat Jacques Vabre

After the legendary Vendée Globe, CMA CGM became the leading partner of the 15th edition of the legendary Transatlantic Jacques Vabre race in 2021 from Le Havre to Martinique. The Group supported the skipper Gilles Lamiré, who did the Transatlantic crossing in his Ocean Fifty.

This partnership serves as a reminder of the Group’s longstanding ties with Le Havre and the French West Indies: this route is used throughout the year round by our fleet of modern, more environmentally friendly vessels.

We make almost 240 calls in Martinique a year, thereby promoting the French West Indies in the Caribbean and worldwide.

The social component of this partnership is also of great importance as it gave the CMA CGM Foundation the opportunity to back Libraries without Borders. This non-profit organization provides access to educational and cultural tools and content for the world's most vulnerable populations, in over 50 countries.
