Aix-Marseille University (AMU) represented by its Chairman Yvon Berland and CMA CGM represented by the Group Senior Vice President Human Resources Thierry Billion are set to sign a partnership agreement to further strengthen ties already established between the two organizations.

This latest partnership focuses on increasing the chances of AMU students finding employment through joint actions by the CMA CGM Group and Aix-Marseille University in training, research and employability, and co-organizing events.

  • CMA CGM, the world’s 3rd largest container shipping company, will offer AMU:
  • Priority for internships and VIEs within the CMA CGM Group;
    • To organize talks and seminars on shipping by CMA CGM experts;
    • The Group also proposes inviting groups of students on a regular basis to discover the world of shipping through conferences and actual case studies;
    • Lastly, CMA CGM will offer to sponsor several students interested in shipping to do a Masters.

Thierry Billion, the CMA CGM Group’s Senior Vice President Human Resources says, “This agreement reflects the Group’s desire to create new bridges between CMA CGM and Aix-Marseille University which could lead to talented young people being employed.”

With 72,000 students, 12 doctoral colleges and 132 research bodies, AMU is a big asset to regional and national economic development. It will make available CMA CGM’s shipping experts to students, graduates and training managers, and promote internships, work experiences abroad (VIE - volontariat international en entreprise) and jobs available at round tables, job forums and other activities to help students get their foot on the ladder.
