New humanitarian operation in Lebanon: The CMA CGM Foundation delivers 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid with the World Food Programme

- 65 containers of humanitarian aid from the World Food Programme, a partner of the CMA CGM Foundation, were transported from Mersin, Turkey, to the Port of Beirut aboard the CMA CGM TOKYO vessel.
- These 1,000 tonnes of food rations, intended for populations affected by food insecurity, will be distributed throughout the country.
- Since the beginning of the Middle East crisis, the Foundation has facilitated the transport of several thousand tonnes of humanitarian aid to Lebanon by sea and air, in partnership with institutional stakeholders and international NGOs.
In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Lebanon and in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), the CMA CGM Foundation is mobilizing the CMA CGM Group’s logistics resources and expertise to transport more than 1,000 tonnes of food assistance to displaced and affected communities across the country.
These essential food rations contribute to ongoing efforts to address the urgent food needs of more than one million displaced people.
The CMA CGM Foundation stands alongside displaced populations in Lebanon
This emergency operation, carried out under the Containers of Hope program, further demonstrates the CMA CGM Foundation’s commitment to Lebanon. Since the beginning of the Middle East crisis, the Foundation has mobilized support through:
- The mobilization of a CMA CGM AIR CARGO aircraft carrying 60 tonnes of French humanitarian aid;
- The maritime transport of 800 tonnes of Egyptian humanitarian assistance;
- The shipment of 600 tonnes of emergency aid pre-positioned by the European Union, in partnership with the WFP;
- Support to L’Œuvre d’Orient for the transportation of the Foundation’s first humanitarian aid convoy to Debel, in Southern Lebanon;
The deployment, together with Caritas, of a PharmaBox, a container converted into a mobile pharmacy, providing access to essential healthcare services for 97,000 people.
Enhanced support for the Lebanese Red Cross
In 2026, the CMA CGM Foundation also renewed its support for the Lebanese Red Cross by contributing to the operation of blood transfusion centers and covering fuel costs for ambulances.
This initiative reflects the CMA CGM Foundation’s long-standing commitment to Lebanon and to communities affected by crises. The Foundation expresses its solidarity with displaced families and with communities that have remained in their villages in Southern Lebanon despite extremely difficult conditions.
A lasting commitment to Lebanon
Since 2020, more than 4 million meals have been distributed in Lebanon, including over 700,000 in 2025, through partnerships with local NGOs and community kitchens.
Containers of Hope: Logistics expertise serving humanitarian emergencies
In response to natural disasters and conflicts, the CMA CGM Foundation mobilizes the full range of the Group’s industrial assets (containers, vessels, aircraft, warehouses, and trucks) to rapidly meet the needs of affected populations. Through its Containers of Hope program, the Foundation has enabled the maritime transport of more than 850 containers of humanitarian aid since 2020.
