Our Maritime Mastery

With over 40 years’ experience on the world’s oceans, CMA CGM is an expert in maritime transport. From one vessel, four employees and a single maritime link, we have grown to become the world's fourth largest shipping group.

OCEAN ALLIANCE | Une offre de services inégalée

OCEAN ALLIANCE: powered by CMA CGM

Through Ocean Alliance, the largest operational shipping agreement ever, we are changing the face of the industry. A stable and solid alliance signed in 2017 for 10 years, it brings together 4 renowned shipping companies: China Cosco Shipping, the Evergreen Line, OOCL and CMA CGM, 38 services on East-West trades and 333 ships (including 123 provided by CMA CGM).

An unprecedented partnership that will improve transit times and provide greater coverage in terms of vessels, ports, rotations and port pairs for years to come, OCEAN ALLIANCE also makes CMA CGM the world’s #1 Alliance in the Transpacific trade today.

OCEAN ALLIANCE is the cornerstone of the Group’s new global strategy. Combined with our intermodal expertise and infrastructure, including a strong network of dedicated trains, barges, inland depots and door to door options as well as our superior Reefer container fleet, it’s steering the Group if not the entire shipping industry to greater heights.

Our top fleet

Through OCEAN ALLIANCE, the CMA CGM Group is sharing its powerful, diversified and environmentally-friendly fleet with the largest Asian shipping companies. We sail some of the largest container ships in the world under the French flag, including our flagship the CMA CGM ANTOINE DE SAINT EXUPERY, and also the CMA CGM BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, the CMA CGM KERGUELEN and the CMA CGM BOUGAINVILLE. Fully equipped with the latest safety technologies and eco-innovations to protect the environment, CMA CGM’s 500+ vessels have a combined capacity of 2.7 million TEUs.

Safety & security

At CMA CGM Group, we have put all available means in place (legal, technical and human) to protect against security threats at sea (piracy, clandestine passengers, illegal traffic,). We have elaborated and implemented a whole host of anti-piracy measures on board our ships, particularly in the Indian Ocean and West Africa. These measures, which are continually adapted to meet the level and evolution of the threat, allow our ships to maintain their rotations in the safest conditions possible.
